Tanabata

Today is Tanabata!! (Also known as Star Festival) Not that it means much to any of you I suppose! I can`t remember the whole story, but it is about 2 lovers who are caught either side of the Milky Way, and this is the one day each year that they meet up. (I think 2 stars kinda cross paths in the sky today, or something.) Today is the day for making wishes. All down the arcade, for the past couple of weeks, there have been little tables set up with bright pieces of cardboard and pencils. You are supposed to write your wish on the cardboard and tie it to the bamboo stalk next to the table. When the stalk is full enough, it is hung up in the arcade, and a new one is put in its place. The arcade is looking quite beautiful!!! I wrote my wish today - that I will become better at speaking Japanese. So, here is an instance of people actually wishing upon a star!
